Someone recently added comments to four of my recent blogs. She/he (maybe it?) used foul language, inane remarks, vulgar falsehoods and outright lies. I decided to allow the posts, in the interests of transparency and democracy. We are all entitled to our opinions, be they from a guttersnipe or from a doctoral professor.
Perhaps I should have deleted the comments. But they gave me food for thought: I realized once again that the majority of people who comment on the Israel-Arab conflict are either totally uninformed, or simply adopt and anti-Israel stance that no facts or figures can alter.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin once opined that Poles get their anti-Semitism with and through their mothers’ milk, and that nothing will ever change their obsession with hating Jews and Israel. No logic, no facts, no discussion.
The creature who commented on my blogs has shown, once again, what the world is up against. The ignorant majority – those belonging to the lowest common denominator - are leading Western civilisation to a world of Islamic dominance, a world of sharia law, a third-world of poverty, ignorance and destitution.
The silent minority of normal people neeed to wake up. They have a task. If they stay silent for too long, it will be too late.
Maybe some people just haven’t dehumanized Muslims and Arabs in their heads as much as you have and actually consider them human beings worthy of being treated as such. I suggest you try it and see what happens.
Hi Bill, how interesting! You have automatically assumed that the person who had commented is a Muslim or Arab. I did not make that assumption, but thanks for raising the issue. Perhaps you need to take your own advice?
Oh, I didn’t assume that at all. I didn’t intend to reference the commenter. It was just a general reference to your consistent dehumanization of Muslims and Arabs. Hope that clears things up!
“Former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin once opined that Poles get their anti-Semitism with and through their mothers’ milk”
Actually it was Yitzhak Shamir. And it was a prime example of a race hate comment in itself. However you seem to be agreeing with it whilst sledging other haters.
As I wasn’t born in Poland (nor am I from Polish forebearers) I cannot comment on the validity of the statement. I also do not see how you interpret my including the quotation, as agreement. Be that as it may, it seems that the quote has been attributed to more Poles than Begin, Shamir et al, as the following extract from a book review shows:
“The selection was edited by Adam Michnik, editor-in-chief of Poland’s Gazeta Wyborcza daily. Michnik told a local newspaper in Poland: “The inspiration for the creation of this anthology for me a conversation about 18 years ago in Sydney with the head of the local Jewish community. He expressed the opinion that Poles suckle anti-Semitism with their mothers’ milk and that the entire Polish culture is steeped in it.” According to Michnik, this meeting was an incentive for the preparation of the publication.”
