The Once-Mighty British Empire

Last week I began a posting with the words: “Israel is burning. Figuratively.”

This posting could have begun with the information that England is burning. Literally.

I cannot compete with the BBC, Sky News, CNN and all the others. Unless you’re on Mars, you know what’s happening in London, and how the riots are spreading to other English cities.

Last night I watched clips of the rioting in London. Fearless youths taunted the unarmed, unprepared police. And the police, apparently out in droves, were next to useless. The rioters fired cars, smashed windows, looted – and the police seemed helpless.

It’s been going on for four days now.

I cannot abide violence, especially violence for its own sake. I also cannot help but recall how peaceful (and effective) Israel’s demonstrations have been  The government is finally sitting up and listening. I also cannot help but recall how the world came down on Israel like a ton of bricks because of Israel’s alleged ‘out-of-proportion’ (and effective) response to the rockets fired from Gaza at civilian Israeli targets. Israel is always accused of over-reacting.

Hey Mr. British Prime Minister! Wanna stop the riots? Start having real men (and women) using real equipment on the rioters. Stop pussy-footing and being politically correct. Do it now! Before it’s too late. Before other hate groups in England (and Britain) understand that they can do what they like there.

Mr. Cameron, multiculturalism has failed dismally. Get used to it. If you want to preserve English culture … it’s not too late. You know what to do.

About jonathandanilowitz

I'm fed up with thinly-veiled pure racist anti-Semitism presented as anti-Israel 'valid' criticism. Hmmmmmm - why the obsession with democratic Israel? Never heard of N. Korea, Sudan, or Syria? I know, anti-Semites have this soft target - Israel, so why not? And other left-wing bleeding heartists choose to attack Israel because its a safe and easy target. Who wants to end up in jail in Lybia, China or Zimbabwe? I'm gay, pro civil rights, pro animal rights, pro sexual equality, pro freedom for all. Green issues are important. Atheist vegetarian.

Can you tell me why multi-culturalism has failed dismally, because from where I sit in my multi cultural community in south london, i don’t see failure. Sure there are challenges as there are in any city, but i don’t think multiculturalism is the main one.

    • I’m not in a position to tell why multi-culturalism failed; I can only see that it has. I wish I could find some of the comments made at the time, I think by PM David Cameron, suggesting the same failure I saw. I believe the interview with him was widely publicised. It backed up what I wrote. But I wrote that blog in August – too long ago to research the facts now. Thanks for your inside view.

But I want to know how you can see it has – what failures did you see? If your opinion was informed by the riots, there has been a lot of evidence since to prove that these were principally not race related, so it is too simplistic to blame multi-culturalism for this. It seems strange that you could make such a bold statement in August, and now you can’t back it up. Making uninformed and generalised statements like this about England is as bad in my eyes as an English person making generalised and uninformed statements about South Africa or Israel, and makes me question the validity of your blog.

  2. Nick, it is your prerogative to question the value and validity of my blog. Much water has flown under the bridge since August. Had you written then I could have engaged in a meaningful discussion. I cannot now.

Well from what I read of your blog, I doubt that you could engage in a meaningful discussion seeing as you seem to make broad and ill informed statements. It is a shame, I thought I might find something interesting here, but you don’t seem to be able to back up any of your claims, or like to engage in a discussion with anyone that challenges you.
