In the light of the ongoing rain of missiles, rockets and assorted other weapons being shot from Gaza into the civilian population of Israel, the Israeli Knesset (parliament) yesterday passed a resolution to reinforce and fortify some 1,700 homes and installations on the Gaza border. To protect the civilian from the murderous attacks by Hamas and other Arab enemies.
The cost is estimated at no less than 270,000,000 shekels (about $7,000,000 or 5,500,000 euro).
How many teachers, doctors and social workers salaries would that pay for? How many clinics, social welfare centers or parks could be built with that money? What services, infrastructure and cultural events are we missing by not having 270,000,000 shekels?
The same of course applies to the unimaginable and obscene amounts that Hamas and Arab Jihad terrorist groups spend on trying to destroy Israel. Instead of the miserable poverty of so many Gazans (I’ll ignore the excesses of the very rich there ….) they could be wallowing in civilian harmony. If only …
